I work with adults to help them overcome difficulties with depression, anxiety (e.g., excessive worry, panic attacks), PTSD, eating disorders, and coping with intense emotions. Online sessions are held from the convenience of your own home. Growing research indicates that various psychological treatments are as effective when completed virtually compared to in-person.
My approach is inclusive, compassionate and trauma-informed. I have been trained in various evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.
I focus on providing CBT, given that it is highly effective for addressing various psychological concerns. Like the name suggests, CBT involves looking at how our thinking patterns and behaviours contribute to distress and disruption in our lives. We can change these patterns to recover motivation, happiness, and life satisfaction.
My approach is also client-centered, meaning I seek to understand from your perspective, within a non-judgmental setting. I hold the utmost respect for the worth and dignity of my clients, and carefully consider their needs and preferences. I work together with them to determine the best treatment plan to help them address their goals.
Depressive symptoms (e.g., sadness, hopelessness, low motivation) and anxiety concerns (e.g., excessive worry, panic attacks, social anxiety) are experienced by many people at some point in their life. When these symptoms interfere with daily life and/or cause distress, therapy can be helpful for providing a lasting solution. Fortunately, decades of research have shown that psychological treatments are highly effective for helping people overcome these difficulties.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Fear, unwanted reminders of the past, feeling the need to avoid certain things, and changes to our belief systems (e.g., that one is unsafe) are a few experiences that can linger following traumatic events. With psychological treatment, individuals can overcome these symptoms and regain control of their lives.
Psychological services are not covered under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). Some degree of coverage for psychological services is provided by most extended health insurance plans. Check with your individual insurance provider, as the amount of coverage available can vary widely. Payment is due at the end of each session. You will be issued a receipt, which can be submitted to your insurance provider.
Therapy appointments are 50 minutes in length at a cost of $225.
